BSNL’s 5G Push Begins

As it is observed that Jio and Airtel are in a stronghold of India’s 4G and 5G market, BSNL is now coming into the competition. Now that the prices of 4G are inflated, BSNL is giving the introduction of 5G a shot. This government-owned company of India is also growing in the 4G segment and now it also wants to launch the 5G services through its own tower for mobile. This is done in a bid to target and compete directly with the private firms in the provision services such as high speed data and calling at fairly inexpensive rates.

Trial Locations Announced

The BSNL’s 5G trial relates to a domestic telecom startup only that has joined as a partner with the BSNL. This trial, which is to be centred around non-public interactions, should commence in one to three months’ time. First wave pilots of 5G networks with starting frequencies of BSNL will employ the carrier’s 700MHz spectrum; many cities within India such as Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai will host the pilots. Specific trial locations include:

  • Connaught Place, Delhi
  • Government Indoor Office, Bangalore
  • Sanchar Bhavan, Delhi
  • JNU Campus, Delhi
  • IIT, Delhi
  • India Habitat Centre, Delhi
  • Selected Location, Gurugram
  • IIT, Hyderabad

BSNL on the Other Hand Extends Full Support for Trials

Speaking about the 5G trials, Kumar said that BSNL is ready to contribute the necessary facilities involved in the spectrum, towers, and power. These trials will be witnessed by Voice, the Voice of Indian Communication Technology Enterprises including Tata consultancy services, Tejas Network Limited etc.

This is a new phase for BSNL as has better market prospects with superior technology of 5G on the horizon.
